Respol Resinas and Hospital Center of Leiria signed a protocol for the construction of isolation rooms at the Pulmonology Service
Manuel Barbeiro Costa, Chairman of Respol Resinas and Licinio de Carvalho, Chairman of the Board of the Hospital Center of Leiria (HCL), recently signed a cooperation protocol for the construction of 3 isolation rooms with negative pressure in the HCL Pulmonology Service, for safe treatment of infectious and contagious patients.
The negative pressure rooms allow the infection control and are used to isolate patients with contagious diseases, carried by air, such as COVID-19, measles, tuberculosis, SARS and MERS. Within these rooms, the atmospheric pressure is kept lower than the environment outside and trough a ventilation system, the air is constantly renewed. The temperature and the humidity are monitored and the main goal is to prevent the contaminated air from leaving the room and the virus from spreading.
The signature of this protocol from Respol Resinas is part of its social responsibility and ethics policy, on which it supports several projects and worthwhile causes, upholding the communities where it operates, particularly in the headquarters area, which coincides with HCL’s area of influence and responsibility.
